Stonewool and Environment
Stonewool substrate is made from a specific type of rock: basalt.
Basalt originates from the earth�s interior and was brought to the surface as lava many thousands of years ago. Melted again, the material in its basic form is made by spinning it into a defined structure. When this has cooled down, it is compressed into stonewool as we know it.
From volcanic basalt to stonewool it is a completely natural process producing a natural final product: inert and free of pathogens.
